So as a result of my constant pavement pounding, my knees have started to complain. My physio suggested a course of acupuncture I foolishly agreed. All seemed fairly painless until he stuck a 2 inch needle into a muscle nerve, very unpleasant! By the time he’d finished each knee cap looked a spitting image of the Millennium Dome. The good news is that my general all round fitness level has improved and my original lower back issues are almost sorted. Now treatment is preventative as opposed to addressing a specific issue.

Treatment table – I hate needles!

2010: Off the blocks
5 Jan 2010:
Went for a 4 mile run this lunchtime, along Londons South Bank and the Victoria Embankment.... it was ridiculously cold! Was tempted to run further, up to Lambeth Bridge but the prospect of acute hypothermia prevented me from doing so.
2nd Jan 2010:
Started the new year off with a brisk 5 mile run with my brother-in-law in Coventry
War Memorial Park (location suggested by my sis and brother-in-law with whom we spent the new year).
If you're ever in the area make sure to visit, it's a fantastic place.
Felt surprisingly good given my 4 week lay off.

I'm strapped!
Still waiting to resume running, been told by physio to lay off for another week or so. My back has been strappped and taped... it was a bit like being wired up for an undercover assignment (minus the microphone and wires....)
I'm also pre-occupied, to the point of obsession, with looking at my JustGiving page and wandering why everyone's not fallen over themselves so far to pledge their support for such a worthy cause and sacrifice! I suppose I should reassure myself by viewing the JustGiving process as a Marathon and not a sprint, right?

Not the best start....
Just finished 4th session with the physio - my lower back demons have returned! Hopefully the discomfort will be short lived and I'll be able to resume my lunchtime runs..
